Deactivation pathways of neutral Ni(II) polymerization catalysts.
The novel dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)-coordinated complex [(N,O)Ni(CH(3))(DMSO)] {1-DMSO; (N,O) = kappa(2)-N,O-(2,6-(3,5-(F(3)C)(2)C(6)H(3))(2)C(6)H(3))-N=CH-(3,5-I(2)-2-OC(6)H(2))} was found to be a well-defined, very reactive precursor that enables direct observation of the activation and deactivation of neutral Ni(II) catalysts. Preparative reaction with ethylene afforded the ethyl complex [(N...
متن کاملNanoparticle-Supported Molecular Polymerization Catalysts
Homogeneous molecular catalysts are immobilzed in a well-defined fashion on individual silica nanoparticles with a narrow particle size distribution by covalent attachment. This synthetic methodology is demonstrated with modified salicylaldiminato-substituted titanium(IV) complexes incorporating a trimethoxysilaneterminated linker: dichloro-bis[κ2-N,O-6-(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propoxyphenylimino)-2...
متن کاملIntelligent catalysts for ethylene oligomerization and polymerization
EEthylene polymerization catalysts became available in an enormous variety. The challenge in this research is to find catalysts that are able to connect ethylene molecules in such a way that not only linear chains are produced but variations like branched materials that possess very interesting mechanical properties like linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). In this contribution, three diffe...
متن کاملWell-defined phosphino-phenolate neutral nickel(II) catalysts for efficient (co)polymerization of norbornene and ethylene.
Phosphino-phenolate neutral nickel catalysts 1-3/B(C6F5)3, without the help of any organoaluminum compound, were found to be efficient catalytic systems for norbornene polymerization and its copolymerization with norbornene derivatives. The amount of B(C6F5)3 required for achieving a high efficiency (3 equiv.) was markedly lower compared to previous reports, and high molecular weight polymers w...
متن کاملSynthesis of neutral nickel catalysts for ethylene polymerization--the influence of ligand size on catalyst stability.
A facile synthesis of nickel salicylaldimine complexes with labile dissociating ligands is described. In addition to producing highly active ethylene polymerization catalysts, important insights into the effect of ligand size on catalyst stability and information on the mechanism of polymerization are provided.
